Global Village Construction Set – TED Talk from Open Source Ecology on Vimeo.
Marcin Jakubowski has a kickstarter donation drive to help fund his global village construction set, as described in the TED talk above, a set of open sourced instructions and information to build and maintain the 50 basic machines needed to run a small civilization.
Fascinating stuff. But now that I have internet I don’t really feel like building and making things in the real world. Then again, I’ve always been a daydreamer. So even though the idea of making things myself is attractive, it was probably never something I’d be willing to work for. I made some of my own toys when I was a kid though, because buying them was just too expensive. So a daydreamer can be made to build things that enhances the play experience. But actual useful things? Maybe not.
Supporting the kickstarter drive would do the trick, no need to get your hands dirty.
