MIT researchers have developed an algorithm that allows the extraction of new information out of everyday, webcam or security camera quality video. While not quite as magical as the “zoom, enhance” nonsense of TV shows, this does seem to have a lot of potential applications, and the data will be released soon and probably start popping up in open source apps and smartphones near you.
