5 men stand under a nuclear blast

To be accurate, it’s 6 men, the camera man was not a volunteer, unlike the colonels and captains who actually chose to be there.

According to the npr blog I found this on, most of the men in the test lived to a ripe old age, since a small airburst like that does not produce a lot of fallout or direct radiation, but the story was not quite so rosy for the people who lived in the area permanently, downwind from larger and more frequent tests.

The 50s sometimes seem like another planet altogether.
